In my opinion that is one of the penalties to pay for SO2R- if you are slow you could lose your run freq. The "vacancy" time for a frequency should about the length of a typical qso.

At least in NAQP it is not a big deal to find another run freq. I even have a function in my logging program that does it automatically :)
