We have already, foolishly, crossed the line
separating amateur radio from other forms of
communication - in particular, by "integrating"
contesting with the internet.

Using the internet to improve your score while
contesting makes about as much sense as using
other propulsion methods in a sailboat race.

It's not allowed, anywhere, for the simple reason
that to so do means you're no longer sailing.

Precisely.  Why, then, do some amateur-radio
contesters feel the need for the internet?
