Maybe sinmply because the voting happens year after year by paddle&mike with
90 percent operating not longer than 24h?
If customers behaved like that there would be no need for any survey. 

But everything is said for years now, nearly every figure published and the
question is only whether organizers will represent the majority's operating
habit with a seperate category or lump them categorywise together with the
about 3 percent really operating fulltime, supposing the majority lacks
competetive spirit and takes the contest as a mere activity weekend.

And be careful with arguing in the lines of "without much of a mass
following" - how gives this justification for a 48h-category - filled in
their basic meaning only by a small one digit percentage?
