Hello everyone,
Rebecca VA7BEC here, contest coordinator for the British Columbia QSO
Party.
First, let me wish you all a very happy new year -- a little late, but
it?s still January. :) Hope 2014 brings good band openings when you need them
and provides lots of contesting fun.
BCQP 2014 is just around the corner!
Key Details
Date/Time: 1600z Feb 1 to 0400z Feb 2.
Objective: BC stations can contact anyone anywhere. Stations outside BC
must catch the attention of BC stations.
Exchange: Stations outside BC give RS(T) + state/province. BC stations
will give RS(T) + three-letter code representing the federal electoral
district in BC.
New in 2014
The plaque program has been expanded!! There are now seven sponsored
categories:
Top Score BC, Top Score Canada outside BC, Top YL Score, Top Score USA,
Most Federal Electoral Districts Worked, Top Rookie (new) and Top DX (new).
As always, we have lovely photo-based certificates for top scores by
stations in BC and outside BC in all categories.
Rules and tools, including multiplier list and an at-a-glance summary of
same-day events and their respective exchanges, and examples of the lovely
photo-based certificates and plaques are available for viewing from links on
the BCQP page of the Orca DXCC website. Go to
http://www.orcadxcc.org/bcqp.html
There's lots of activity the Feb 1-2 weekend, which means plenty of Q
potential on phone, CW and digital. From a British Columbia perspective,
participation from everyone everywhere is absolutely welcome. Even if the BCQP is
not your target contest of the weekend, if you hear a BC station calling
CQ BCQP, please drop by. If one of the other QSO parties is your focus and
you are in the host state, BC stations will be able to trade a Q with you.
Participants in the 10-10 contest or even XE RTTY can also benefit from a
trade. It?s a win-win situation for all events on the air.
I?ll be running the sponsor call VA7ODX on SSB. Hope to hear you.
73,?
Rebecca VA7BEC

Hi All,
Just getting my old computer back up and running after a major crash. One
of the things I lost was a good little UTC clock. (I also lost all my
emails, so I can't go back and search for it!) I heard about this one a
little over a year ago here on this list. But I can't remember the name
of
it!
What I can tell to help identify what I'm looking for is this..... you can
drag it around the screen to place it wherever you like it and you can
also
drag it to make it the size you want. It gets the local time from the
Windows clock and displays the UTC time.
Does anyone have an idea of what I'm looking for?
Thanks,
Back in my Hole,
Ron, KU7Y

I use one called AClock but I can't seem to find the url for it.
Just pops the time on the screen in a small window and can be moved with
the
mouse. I normally place it in the corner of the entry window.

Sittin' in El Paso on a Saturday night, with no place to QRV NAQP SSB.* A
qstion arises on the NAQP Rules.
"9. Station: All radio transmitters, .... Use of multiple stations during
the contest, whether directly or remotely operated, is prohibited."
What does that mean or include/exclude? Does it ban only using multiple
stations under a single call sign?
Does it ban the K8MR-SS-style Single-Op Multi-Station with different call
signs?
Does it ban something I am not devious enough to have thought of?
PLEASE -- Cite your authority when you reply. I'd like to distinguish
between the real skinny and the opinions of the barracks lawyers.

*Friday afternoon in a nearby shopping center I saw a car with N5RK tags.
>From on-line call sign lookup, he is only abt a mile from my son, and
seems to be interested in HF. I reached him by telephone just before going
QRT Friday and boldly asked if I could use his station to make a couple of
QSOs in NAQP Saturday night. Alas, his antennas are down.

If you are submitting a score I think it means, pick a station and stick
with it. Ie no call sign changes or station changes. If you are just
handing out contacts do what you wish.
