Dave,
These rigs are fine (well, acceptable) when they are used barefoot at 100 W.
But there are quite a few contest stations that run amps (often exceeding
1500W) and then they indeed have advantage by occupying much more band
space. I think , the rule should be - "If you want to run more then 100W,
make you signal occupy the same bandwidth as standard 100W rig"
