General Unstated Rule #1 in just about all contests (and yes, I know it's stated in many if not most):
Copy the exchange that is being sent.
General Unstated Rule #2:
If you choose NOT to copy the exchange that was sent, but to use a pre-fill, or do a lookup from a callsign database, or use any other source to figure out information from the exchange... and get it wrong...

I operate from home in NH, Remotely from VT, and from many other places as
a guest op... esp. in Sweepstakes. I'd bet at least 2% or more of the
stations who work me get the state/section wrong because they ignore what
is sent and just use the auto-fill. It's a bad habit.
