[CQ-Contest] CQWW CW check logs

Can that really happen?  I've never understood why there are so many NILs, including from fairly skilled ops. But if a checklog is not included in the competition, why would a QSO with that SM not simply be classified as a Unique?  Never heard of a "NICL"--not in checklog.
