25 years ago some genius wrote in QST magazine that some contesters were using computer logging but refused to send their log on disk to the contest sponsor because they feared that would allow their log to be scrutinized by machine. The article quoted then-CQ contest director Bob Cox, K3EST, that sometime soon CQ might require logs on disk. Imagine that! QST hedged its bets, saying that "organizational constraints" might not let ARRL follow suit. But 25 years later, both sponsors still accept paper logs from casual participants, from *non competitive* entries.
