[CQ-Contest] DX Contest scoring schemes

Except for the very limited example of WRTC it is likely impossible to have a "level playing field".

At the risk of launching a pool-pah (Google "bokonism"), let me posit that the hidden goal of every "Very Serious Contester" ought to be "find a way within the rules to tilt the playing field to my advantage".

But Hans…the contest is unfair to us W1s.  We need to “level the playing field” so that a W1 with stacked monobanders has a chance of winning.

Distance based scoring, inversely actually, would be much fairer to W1s in SS.  What say you?

Ya wanna fight, Pilgrim?

Don't you DARE mess with SS!  One of the tiny handful of major contests where you actually need to be able to COPY something.  Confounds the "fie nigh foe" crowd.

Besides, Charly and most of the rest of the world are ineligible to play, so the jeremiads would continue.

If you insist on a contest that is existing be changed to try it, I would
