N2IC is 1580 miles away from me, no wonder he is so loud here:)

Seriously Jim, the only thing that a mountain top does is change the angle
of radiation and possibly allow for an unobstructed path.  It is easily
possible to be too high.

Not taking anything away from his operating skills, but his station is on
a 6,900 ft mountaintop. That has the practical effect of moving him at
least 1,500 miles closer to wherever he's pointing his antennas.
