Greetings fellow contesters I have a very special comtetitive event to share with you.

Can you spell GOLD RUSH? Well now you can.. now let's have some fun and see if you can do it with your contest logs. If you work stations during the California QSO party next weekend, you will be eligible to win GOLD, in the form of a medallion commemorating the 50th running of the mother of all QSO parties and now what has become an international DX contest, the California QSO Party.

In the Mid 19th Century, folks from ALL OVER THE WORLD flocked to the west coast of the United States, in hopes of finding GOLD! Now you in the contest community can do the same.

Here is the deal.. you get QRV. You work the multiple 1X1 6TH AREA calls with suffixes that spell G O L D R U S H and you get a commemorative golden colored 50th anniversary CQP coin as an award.

all 58 California counties for CQP 2015 and 2 stations per suffix have agreed to be QRV!... you can do this!

I encourage the contesting community to review the 2015 county activation plan here, all CA counties are QRV!

Just a reminder to the world wide contest community that the US state of California is independently the 8th largest economy in the WORLD and covers nearly 160,000 Square miles!

The CQP coordinators, and the Northern California Contest Club are grateful to all of these operators who will be deploying all over this great state setting up fantastic operations many of which are Dx-pedition style remote areas including deserts, mountainous and remote coastal regions. Please join us in thanking this group of dedicated operators for making this upcoming 30 hours of contesting fun possible for amateurs around the world!

So mark your calendars for October 3rd , and make preparations to kick off the 2015-2016 contest season California style. ...with your California gold strike.. the 50th CQP anniversary commemorative coin!

Will you be the first one to work all 58? Or even better, will you strike god with GOLDRUSH? You never know.. Until you get on the air and try.

good luck in the contest!

About the California QSO Party

The California QSO Party (CQP) is held every year on the first weekend of October. The first CQP took place in 1966. Since 1974, the Northern California Contest Club (NCCC) has sponsored CQP. CQP has traditionally opened the annual contest season by providing an opportunity for contesters to prepare for the ARRL November Sweepstakes since the format is similar.

Stations outside of California, worldwide, work stations in California only. The 58 counties of CA are the multipliers.

California stations work all stations in or out of CA. The 50 US states and 8 Canadian provinces are the multipliers. Stations outside of Canada and the US add to one's QSO total but do not count as multipliers. See the full set of CQP Rules for more details.
