Hi,
I wear bifocals, have for over sixty years, both before andafter the usual cataract age-related procedure.
A number of years ago an optometrist had a card in hisdisplay containing a number of flip-up lenses to augmentthe fixed lenses on my bifocals. He said he sold a lotto plumbers. With the flip lenses up, your two regularlenses. With the flip lenses down, two different prescriptions. Also works on tower work where you can't do the trombonereading technique to vary your focus....
Like the cheap flip-up sunglasses, only clear with somenumber of diopters. There are various strengths available,so it is best to buy in person so you can judge how muchcorrection you need. But, they are available online, too.
I love mine.

Years ago, when I started using progressive bifocals, it was clear that
they were not good for some activities, including using computers. I
just asked my optometrist for 3 prescriptions: reading, computer
screens, and distance. (The distance glasses are for night driving.)
Since I'm very nearsighted, I have to use prescription glasses.
Originally, the computer glasses were focused at 22 inches, but as
screen resolution has improved, I moved closer, about 16 inches. Any
optometrist who has recently tested your vision can write a prescription
for any distance you choose. You can get single-distance glasses very
cheaply from the discount opticians, if you're not too fussy about the
frames.
