Hook up a dumb terminal to the 765, via the KIY box. Or just fire
up a terminal emulator on the PC (like Windows Terminal). Set the
baud rate to 1200, 8N1, etc. When you turn the main tuning knob
on the 765, you should get garbage on the screen, as the 765 sends out
frequency update info. You could also try various other icom rig
control programs. I have a few shareware programs which should work.
I also have a service manual for the 765 if that would help...
