There is a recommended circuit in the CT manual which explains exactly
how to do this.  Are you missing that info? 

However the LPT port is the prefered way.  This is because of the way
COMTSR works, it keys the rig solid, key down, until the program starts
and you send the first transmission.  Its in my opinion a serious error in
COMTSR, but apparently few agree with me.  Using LPT this problem 
does not occur.
