No, all that the GRID command does is recenter the Grid map to the grid you just typed.  It doesn't affect the log at all.  As a rover, you would be best to start a new log for each new grid.  I would first start up a log and configure it the way you like it.  Then copy the bin file to such names as FN42.bin or EM90.bin.  Then you can easily go from one grid to the other by starting up CT with the new bin file.
