CT 9 is a real-mode application. I couldn't get it to run in DOSEMU. The same
may apply to the CT self-extracting archive. Linux is a multi-tasking OS, I
guess it won't let applications switch processor modes.

What _will_ work, is the older version (6 or 8, I can't remember which, the
'286 executable). But the CW is a bit dodgy. That was on a 300 MHz K6-2, with
everything niced up. That may not be a problem if you are a sideband op.

DOS was booted natively to install CT. Then Linux was fired up to attempt to
run CT inside DOSEMU.

If you are looking for contest logging software for Linux, take a look at TLF.
I used it in the ARRL CW DX contest, and found it to be very good. TLF now
'accommodates CT-freaks' by supporting common CT keystrokes :-)

The main draw-back is, it enforces 'TR'-style RUN/S&P modes.

HTH...
