[ct-user] Any tips for K2/DOS5/Toshiba T1850?

Hi All,

I've just started using CT for the first time [CT for DOS, Version
10.00.005] under DOS5 on an old Toshiba laptop [Monochrome T1850, 4 MB
RAM]. I'm using CT with my Elecraft K2 (using the TS950 setting in CT).

I spent most of yesterday re-learning DOS5 & configuring CT, and seem to
have got things working quite well. Nevertheless, I would really
appreciate any applicable configuration tips from experienced users.

Specifically, I'd like to know:
- any tricks for always starting CT with a preferred set of switches (such
as -L), as my preferred list seems to be growing!;
- suggested steps for ensuring that a preferred set of text commands (such
as Correct and NoWorkDupe) are definitely set/not set at the start of a
contest.
- how the radio serial port can be reset without re-starting CT [currently,
if my K2 loses power, the communications won't restore automatically when
the K2 comes back on line.]
- any suggested AUTOEXEC.BAT & CONFIG.SYS settings that make best use of my
4 MB RAM with CT, yet still permit effective use of Win 3.1 (Enhanced Mode)
and the Toshiba laptop (Auto)Resume feature. Note that I have added
COMTSR1 -P1 -B4800 -N82 to my AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

If this all sounds like very basic stuff (or too specialised in the case of
my specific hardware), it may be best to send any responses direct to my
email account [steve(at)alg.demon.co.uk].

Regards to all,
Steve GW4ALG
