Hi Guys,
I've almost got the two drive-on tilt up tower bases done; only painting
remains to be done. One of these is for the 432 station, the other is for
K4SZ to use on the liaison tower.
The generator & trailer are coming along. I anticipate full functionality,
although it may not be as pretty as I'd like by then. Everyone will have a
220 & a 120 circuit; please recall that each band team is responsible for
it's own power outlets for it's gear. I plan to bring 12/3 with ground (4
conductors) to each station. The wire I have has black, white, red & bare
conductors in it. Black will be the 120 hot with respect to white
(neutral), red to black will be 220, the bare will be the safety ground. I
have 100+ feet of 6 AWG (3 conductors) to bring the mains into the breaker
box, then distribute via the 12/3 from there.
As for the 432 station, what will be the radio gear? Last time I used
Bruce's IC-729 as a 10m IF with Jim's 432 transverter. I have a TS-850 & a
new DEMI TIB-850; so I can use the 850 as an IF. Jim, do you plan on
donating the use of your transverter again? (No smoke this time, I
promise!) My 432 station is a Yaesu FT-790R-MKII, which will work but
should probably be a back up rig. Comments?
I plan to arrive in Huntsville Friday evening the 17th. I'm staying in the
Hilton, across the street from the hamfest. I have three tables in the flea
market.
