<< As for the 432 station, what will be the radio gear? Last time I used
Bruce's IC-729 as a 10m IF with Jim's 432 transverter. I have a TS-850 & a
new DEMI TIB-850; so I can use the 850 as an IF. Jim, do you plan on
donating the use of your transverter again? (No smoke this time, I
promise!) My 432 station is a Yaesu FT-790R-MKII, which will work but
should probably be a back up rig. Comments?
I plan to arrive in Huntsville Friday evening the 17th. I'm staying in the
Hilton, across the street from the hamfest. I have three tables in the flea
market. >>
Hi Robin and Everyone-
Its my understanding that we will be using Dick's LunarLink amp on 432, which
will require more drive than the transverter will supply. Therefore we were
talking about using an FT-847, which I am going to bring. The 847 has the
most sensitive receiver I have ever used, which is why so many are used on
EME. It is not as overload proof as a transverter, though, so I would
suggest we use Robin's 850 and Jim's transverter as the backup, and we could
put those in line if we are having bad overload problems at some particular
time. Also, if someone has one of those solid state amps DEMI used to sell
(I think maybe Bob does), it could be added to the 850/transverter station
and padded down (that is put a pad between the trvtr and the intermediate
amp, or adjust the trvtr) to supply proper drive for the amp. Anyway, I
would suggest we have both stations as outlined above available.
