Well everyone, I am back from Europe and have recovered from the time
difference. The contest is now just a litle more than two weeks away and it
is now time to get serious. I talked to Bob, K4SZ today and 432 is still
looking good. There are still a couple of things to be done but 432 is
basically a done deal. Bob and I also still need to break out the microwave
stuff and make sure it is still working from last year. The plan now is to
have 903, 1296, 2304 and 3456. We may do higher bands if time and our
energy level allows. I plan to spend quite a bit of time at Bob's place
this weekend to help him get everything together. Anyone else who wants to
come by is welcome. While I am on that subject, I was rather surprised when
Bob told me that the 6 meter station had not been checked out at his place
yet. I thought that the plan was to take the 6 meter station over to Bob's,
put the new antennas on the tower trailer and run it on a generator pretty
much like it will be on the mountain. We really got a lot of complaints
last year about the 6 meter station and I would really like to see it
checked out before we leave for the mountain. Can the 6 meter band captain
please give us all an update on the 6 meter station? I haven't heard much
about 144 and 222 MHz either. I know that Dick dropped an email on the
reflector while I was gone about having to break down and leave Sunday night
as soon as the contest is over. No problem with that other than I am
concerned with Dick driving back that late. Dick, can we just break the
station down Sunday night and you leave first light Monday morning? That
seems safer to me. Anyway, can the 144 and 222 MHz band captains also share
their status with everyone on the reflector? That is it for now guys.
