Well, we are getting down to the wire now and have a few updates.

We heard from NY4N and he won't be able to make it now. Maybe next time
Jeff.

Also, Bob Crone is recovering from hand surgery and had thought he would
have healed by now, but is still on the road to complete recovery. He
still may come if things get better in the next day or so. We wish you
well Bob and hope it works out.

Jim, K4PZ has also had to drop out and won't be coming along to pull the
extra trailer. Maybe next time for him also.

The black tower trailer has already been loaded on my red tower trailer
so we are set up again just like we were for June. Shouldn't be too
much trouble to set up on the mountain though.

We have talked to Paul W4SKI and he will be up sometime to help operate
and will let me know tomorrow when he will be available.

We had a short meeting at Shelby of those of us there (W4KXY, WW8RR,
K4VJM and K4SZ) and solved most of the worlds problems in just a few
minutes. Seriously though, we discussed the hardline situation and have
viable solutions underway. We also discussed various rigs and
availability and have those issues under control also.

When I talked to Paul, he said there is an Exxon Station to the right at
Exit 98 that has off-road diesel and a Citgo Station at I-40 and 276
(about three miles off our direct path) that has it. He will try to
check the prices before Thursday night and post on the reflector. This
should cover the diesel fuel situation. Ivan spotted a station with a
good price along the way around Clarkesville when we went to Shelby last
weekend. He will let you know about that on Friday morning if you need
diesel for your truck then.

I can't think of anything else and I know of no problems other than the
reduced body count. We still have six full time and two part time ops
for the contest so it is doable.

See you on Friday morning at Chez 'Sanford and Son' to get the convoy on
the road. Plan to get here so we can take off around 9AM.

73, Bob
