[Fourlanders] IC-9100

Since those bands are basically USA only there is not enough potential
volume for a large outfit like Icom to justify the initial NRE. It sucks
but that is the way it is. I have no idea how much volume there would be
for the D-Star module (I wouldn't spring for one) but that is probably
considered a "strategic" move. Now a small outfit willing to do the reverse
engineering on the rig and then work with someone that already has 222 and
902/903 transverters (DEMI maybe) could possibly pull it off. Such an
outfit might want to contact Icom now to see if they could get early
technical info and start looking at it and maybe even do a prototype before
the rig becomes available in the US. When the rig does become available in
the US they could do testing and basically hit the ground running. Just a
thought.

It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart
you are. If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong.
