On the other hand...
On 222 it is more of a run what you have kind of band. Matching your
polarization to what they are using at the other end will help make
longer distance contacts possible. For that reason, I make sure to be
able to run SSB, CW or FM on either set of antennas on 222 at W4NH. We
always have more gain on the horizontal antennas where we run a
stacked pair of Directive Systems DSFO222-16's (see
http://www.directivesystems.com/DSFO222-16.htm ). The vertical antenna
is a single Cushcraft 4-element beam. We also expect to try out a pair
of horizontal omni loops on 222 as well.
If your beam is mounted horizontal and you only have FM, we are likely
to have a very easy contact. If you run the beam vertical, where W4NH
has less gain, we will be a bit weaker to each other. Either way is no
problem. Just let us know which way your antenna is set so that we can
choose the matching polarization at our end.
You should easily find W4NH somewhere near 50.135 on 6M. Once you hook
up there, make sure to find out where we are on the other bands and to
ask for a link up to 223.5 FM. We will be listening for you!
Have fun!

Even though he is only 7 miles away, he is more than 300 feet higher with a nice 360 view and a higher than his roof elevated deck. I plan to be on 6, 2 and 432 SSB and with my new from the hamfest today 222 5 element yagi, I will be looking for some FM contacts with the TH-F6. I looked for a 222 rig with more output or an amp to use with the HT at the ARC fest, but had no luck.
