[Fourlanders] Missing text

Brian..

I just did as you suggested..looked at the reflector archives...for the past
2 months..

Compared e-mails between there and what I have held in my "Fourlanders
E-Mail" folder under Outlook

Everything is identical..if it was an empty message in the Contesting.com
archive it was also blank in my mailbox. Also vice versa..

I also use Gmail via Firefox almost exclusively. Yes, Gmail has been
reported by a number of people to have trouble with "blank emails". It seems
to be related to a MIME header format issue.

If the group consensus is to move away from the contesting.com (free)
service, someone else can manage it. I want nothing to do with another Yahoo
list. I do not like them. I do not like Yahoo.

Just curious - Has anyone looked at the list archives to compare what they
get with what the list stored? (The link is at the bottom of each list
email.) The Christmas Celebration email from Jim came through to my email as
blank, but it shows content in the archives. Therefore it is my problem and
resides with Gmail and Firefox. I prefer them and continue to use them. I
look look at the archive or use the Gmail "Show original" function to catch
what I missed.

Some messages I receive via the reflector are blank, and some are not.

This is addressed to the reflector and Ron, Bill, Scott, and Dusty. It will
be interesting to see if anyone gets this message both directly and via the
relfector, and if there are differences betwene the two.

I found out directly from Johnny (K4SQC) that he is using G-Mail (and
Firefox) and seems like he's having the most and consistent issues. It seems
like nothing he sends is getting through this reflector now..HTML or Plain
Text.

But I never have any issues with his e-mails delivered through the Moon-Net
or QCWA reflectors..I get them all...even when they are HTML.

It is not logical to me as I do not see a full pattern, but yes, what I am
saying is that I get blank emails from some people, when passed via the
reflector.

I do not have this problem on 'normal' emails, only reflector, and even then
only on some emails via the reflector, and this seems to be a new
experience.

I use gmail only these days..

Well, as you saw from Brian, he thinks it may be the HTML e-mails being
generated......however...I don't want to blow his mind quite yet and tell
him that ALL of my e-mails generated are in HTML and they seem to come
through fine !

I think it COULD have something to do with HTML messages and how the
reflector deals with it, but ..I also think it has something to do with
E-Mail service providers (in my case, Charter) and how THEY might re-format
certain things in the HTML e-mail, or add some ID character string, before
relaying to the reflector.

Or ....how the service provider treats HTML messages from this reflector
before delivering to you, the customer.

But again, I generate ALL of my e-mails in HTML and they seem to get through
the reflector and I use Charter. So, that's why I'm beginning to think it
may have something to do with various intermediate Email services providers
and how they interface to this particular reflector.

On another note, I use MS Outlook here. To take Outlook out of the equation
I logged in directly to the Charter site to manage my e-mail. What I found
was the following >

All the e-mails out there posted from the reflector are identical to the
ones in my Outlook Inbox...those with content via Outlook have it on the
Charter.net <http://charter.net/> site, too.

Those few that are empty also have missing content in the Charter.net
mailbox.

So what you are saying is that you, Tom, and Dusty get these empty e-mails
being passed from the Fourlanders reflector ?

Or you are seeing the issue with regular person to persons e-mails, too ?

This seems to be a recent and common problem. Dusty, Tom Dooley and myself
are all having it too. It's weird that it just started a couple of weeks
ago.

I haven't found a common thread yet. We're using different e-mail
applications, different e-mail service providers, etc.

Another weird thing about it is that the text comes through on my phone, but
not on my computer.
