[Fourlanders] June contest update

Reminder: We did not get reservations for Mile-Hi campground for the
June contest. We are reserved for September.

Ron has investigated a site in EM 65/75 on top of Monteagle right at
I-24 that is promising but he's been unable to get in touch with the
owner to find out the status. There was no campground or other facility
there that would be useable. This site would put us in the Delta
Division and open up some interesting new directions for us for a
contest but it looks like it won't really be an option for this June
unless something happens immediately so we're not holding our breath.

We need an update from Howard and Dean about the possibility of
operating off the Blue Ridge Parkway near the Pisgah Inn. This would be
an interesting thing to do if we can pull it off. Still in our same
grid as Mile-Hi but a more open view to the NE corridor un-obscured by
higher mountains, kind of right on the edge with a clear shot. Might
help our score. Anyway, we need to get this taken care of immediately
if we are to be able to do it this June contest. Howard and Dean, let
us know what the status is for this site.

Otherwise, our fall-back position is to operate from here at W4ZST where
the 6m , 2m and 222 antennas are still in the air from January and the
222 and 6m stations are also ready to go if needed. Obviously the least
amount of work for yours truly and I'm getting to appreciate every break
at my age now!!

Of course, any portable operation depends on commitment of operators and
trailer-pullers so let me know your availability and plans for the
contest ASAP so I can get planning manpower for that and make sure we
will have a quorum available and enough folks with pulling power for the
big trailers and all the peripheral gear.

The contest dates are June 10 thru 13, leaving my QTH on Friday the 10th
and returning on Monday the 13th if we go portable. The actual contest
dates are the 11th and 12th.

Thanks and let me know your plans, Bob
