If the Doylestown paper is correct:

"J. Dawson Ransome of Ocala, Fla., formerly of New Hope, died Wednesday, Jan
9, 2002 at Estelle's Hospice House. He was 81.

He was the husband of Maryann Ransome of Ocala.
Mr. Ransome was born in Riverton, N.J. He served in the U>S. Air Force
during World War II. He retired as chief executive officer for Ransome
Airlines.
He served on the board of trustees for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
and was board member emeritus for Experimental Aircraft Assocation. He also
served on the board of Giles & Ransome Inc.
J. Dawson was captain of the 1972 U.S. team that won the World Aerobatic
Championship. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Ocala and the
Country Club of Ocala.
IUn addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Anna Ransome of
Groton, Calif.; William Ransome of Brookeville, Md; Cary B. Ransome of
Portland, Ore.; Dawsome A. Ransome of Ocala, Fla.; and Henry Ransome of
Cinnaminson, N.J.
A brother, ernest L. Ransome III of Pine Valley N.J.; and three
grandchildren also survive"

No mention that he was W2SAI (and for a few years K3MBF prior to getting
his old call back in the latest vanity cycle). Dawson was a long time
member of FRC. There are lots of great SAI stories which the guys that knew
him better may wish to share.
