[Hooper] James Hooper (Obadiah, Sr.)

If this is the Capt. James Hooper (Obadiah, SR.) my records indicate he 
  enlisted in the Army in 1788.  He  married Elizabeth Chambers January 
6, 1781 and his children in 1790 were:
Amelia H. Hooper b. December 20, 1781
Thomas C. Hooper b. September 18, 1784
Polly Hooper born September 9, 1788
James Hooper, Jr. born September 14, 1790

Obediah Hooper III born January 25, 1792
Elizabeth Hooper born October 4, 1794

Spartanburgh County, SC Census in 1790 shows the following:
Three males 16 years and older including head of household (James and 
??)
Three males under 16 years (Thomas C., possibly James, Jr and ?)
Three females Amelia H., Polly and wife, Elizabeth

> that JAMES HOOPER served in the Revolutionary War as a Private and 
> Captain in a company designated at various times.   Captain Nicholas 
> Hobson's and Captain John Hocakady's Company 6th Virginia regiment 
> also designated 2nd Virginia Regiment commanded by Colonel John Gibson 
> and Colonel Christen Febiges.  He enlisted February 17, 1788 for 1 
> year.  He was transferred about October 1888, to Benjamin Talaferro's 
> Company same regiment, and was discharged February 17, 1799.  His name 
> appears on a list of soldiers of Virginia Line on Continental 
> Establishment.  James died April 26, 1828 in DeKalb County Georgia
