Naomi & Ron;

Thank you for your many leads on this HOOPER, McCLURE, and NELSON families.
I never knew Nelly/Nellie was a nickname for Elinder. That could help a
lot.
Also having the Census tracking saves tons of time.

1880 Census Beaver Dam Township, Cherokee co., NC
#37....McClure,William age 59 NC NC NC b.abt 1821
..............Ellender age 53 NC NC NC *b.abt 1827?
...............Henry P---- 16 NC NC NC
.................William S 14 NC NC NC
..................Joseph V 12 NC NC NC

*Elinder seems to be getting younger than William every year!
I don't know when William or Ellender died.

**The only thing I can find close to dates and names is this Census
which may or may not be Elinder. They did have a daughter Margaret b.abt
1860.
I have NO proof this is my Elinder or Margaret as I do not know who Margaret
married.

1880 Census Mecklenburg, North Carolina
RILEY, J.P. 31 farmer b. NC
Margaret 20 wife keeping house *(b. NC abt. 1860)
Sarah E. 6/12 Dec. dau. b. NC
McCLURE, E.A. 59 Mo in law at home b. NC widow *(b.abt 1821)

Keeping in mind William and Ellender's daughter Elizabeth Jane McClURE
married Elisha NELSON

1870 Declaration for Invalid Pension from Civil War
Since leaving the said service, this applicant has resided
in the County of Towns in the State of Georgia.

Elisha states he lives four miles north of Blairsville, Union Co. GA.

Naomi, do you know where this marriage date came from? This looks very
promising, as Elisha was born 10 mo later.
~Zebicon Nelson ? married Martha Kilpatrick on 24 Jul 1843, Union Co., GA

There was a Z. NELSON listed as soldier from Towns County, GA. I can find
nothing else on this soldier. I suspect he was killed in the Civil War. I
have also wondered if the Sibu could have been Lihu also or Lish which is
short for Elisha his son.

1870 Census of Towns co.
Sibu or Zenobia missing from family
Martha (head of house)

1880 Census Ga.
Lower Hiwassee, Towns co.
NELSON,
Martha 55

Thanks again for your help. It gives me encouragement to keep searching. ~
