As a f/u to my earlier e-mail:

Apparently the 10 Dec. 2003 message stating that James Hooper bought Hanover County, VA land in 1793 and 1974 refers to the James Hooper (1720-1836) who died in DeKalb, GA.

it apparently can be documented that the above James Hooper had a son, James, born 14 Sep. 1790. For the purpose of discussion, I propose that this James (b. 1790) is the James that appears on the 1820 and 1830 Hanover County census. This proposed relationship between this James sr and this James jr is where I need some help.

I feel certain that the James Hooper on the 1820 and 1830 Hanover County, VA census is the James Hooper who died 1858 in Lawrence County, TN. This James Hooper appears on the 1840 and 1850 census in Lawrence County, TN. This James Hooper married Elizabeth K. Green, dau. of Fortunatus Green and Sarah White of Hanover County.

James Hooper and Elizabeth K. Green according to my research had the following children:
Alexander T.
Mary E.
Harriet M.G. (apparently names for Harriet M Green -sister
                      of Elizabeth K Green)
Sarah K.

Hooper is one of the lines in my wife's family. I am not a Hooper. I have not been able to find any information on Alexander T. but two of the above sisters married into the Gillespie family while in TN and later moved into Missouri.

I very much appreciate the responses to the earlier inquiry and solicit further discussion. If my above conjecture is correct, it then implies that when James sr moved south from VA, James jr remained behind and such is what I would need to prove.

Happy to share what I have with the Hooper who moved to Lawrence County, TN is anyone is interested.
