In Hooper Genealogy by Flora Hooper Collier it states ”in Rhodes Memorial, Atlanta, GA, we found a letter from Felix W. Motlow of Tullahoma, TN dated 28 Dec 1942; enclosed was a picture of an old colonial clock. He stated it was known as the “Monroe clock” passed down through Nancy’s family. He also said that Nancy was a cousin of President James Monroe. (Conjecture: It is possible that Obediah’s mother was a Monroe, since so many of the second and 3rd generation were already named Monroe before James Monroe became president). Nancy Hooper was the daughter of Obediah Hooper born 1720-27 in Hanover County, VA.
