I am sorry you say your children do not care as you describe above. I
do not have the experience you have with the kids day contest, but I do
have a 9 year old daughter that my husband and I helped earn her
Technician at 7 years old and then earn the Extra class at the young age
of 8. Rebecca KB0VVT seems very interested in Amateur Radio. However,
you are much more knowledgeable than I about what children want and care
about.

Do not worry Greg, we would not think of letting the suggested
frequencies bind us up since Rebecca, my husband, and myself all have
full Amateur privileges being Extra class. We specifically wanted to
talk with young people thus we stayed within the recommended
frequencies. We looked outside the recommended frequencies occasionally
but did not hear any young people. Rebecca talks to plenty of "old
guys" regularly since she has already Worked All States(WAS) and has
operated in the CQ World Wide Phone Contest, and ARRL Sweepstakes.
Rebecca and I have plenty of fun together.

I thought this reflector was for people to share positive tips and
information with each other, not for bashing people who make positive
suggestions.
