Rebecca KB0VVT, Barbara KG0UT, and I had a great time during Field Day.
We helped setup and operate the local club that is K0GQ 2A Missouri. I
was only intending on staying at the site three or four hours so as not
to get Rebecca burned out. She started out helping put up vertical
antennas and running ground radials. Rebecca and her mother did most of
their work on the HF phone station probably making more than half of the
700+ phone contacts. Chances are, if you contacted K0GQ on phone and
heard a female voice it was either Rebecca or her mother. She also
helped make about 30 CW contacts on the CW HF station. Several hours
went by and I kept asking Rebecca if she was ready to go home and she
said NO and wanted to know if we were going to camp out at the site.

Rebecca had a good time during the Kids Day Contest. She and I had a
hard time understanding some of those cute young voices with all the
noise on the band. Now we understand why some people had a hard time
understanding her on SSB phone when she earned her license. It is too
bad that their is not a portion of 20 meters where people regularly run
narrow FM. The kids would sound excellent on narrow band FM. Rebecca
now primarily uses CW where she has no problem with people understanding
her. Many of the people, mostly guys, get kind of excited when they
find out they are communicating with a ten year old especially when they
find out she is a YL to boot.
