[Kids] Thoughts on Kid's day

Hello Everyone, I'm sorry to delay in writing but my computer went to cyber
cemetery. I am now on line with a new system and wanted to touch base with
some who were involved with Kid's day. The 3 kids we had here had a good
time. We had our 4-H club members ages 8-17 on the air. With band conditions
and various other incidental issues on the air we were fortunate. I had
arranged for our sponsor amateur radio club to permit us to use the
repeater. I also e-mailed some of the club members and asked them to try to
be available to talk with the kids. As usual the men were more than
accomodating. They not only allowed the kids to make the contact but stayed
on the air with each one individually. When we attempted to contact others
on the suggested frequencies we were either interrupted or not acknowledged.
If it wasn't for the local club repeater it would have been a poor contact
event. I'm sorry to say the e-mails that were sent to me by those making
comments on the event were not read because of my computer failure. I hope
others had more luck with the bands than we did. The one long distance
contact was an in and out from Texas. Our 12 yr. old girl made the contact
and said " that's just super!!" Thank you for making this event possible.
The kids are looking forward to another Kids day in the future. Linda
