[Kids] Thoughts on Kid's day

Tree,
Thanks for investigating with ARRL. What I would like to propose is we have
the ARRL expand the frequency list for Kid's day.
I have cc'd Tom Hogerty from the ARRL. Tom, to give you some background
information, I sent an email to Kids at contesting.com about a week go to
solicit input from other operators on Kids day with regards to band
conditions. In general, the only band open was 20m and this made for tight
conditions. Therefore, since we are at the bottom of the sun cycle, I
proposed we add 40m and 80m as to the already established 20m, 15m, and 10m
band for Kid's day. Then, Frank KR1ZAN stated:
"How about we recommend using the World (w/US mods) Scouting Frequencies
(see
http://www.arrl.org/FandES/ead/jota.html for list) plus/minus 20 kHz. Also
state that if bandwidth crowded, call or look for stations immediately
outside the crowded area."
No one objected and this made sense to me.
Anyhow, Tom, are you the right person to talk to at the ARRL to update the
information for Kid's Day? Perhaps the Boring Amateur Radio Club needs to
provide this suggestion? I don't know but I would like to do what I can to
expand the frequency list.
Thanks for everyone's input on this.
Regards,
John Clinton/AG4GG
