[Mldxcc] Meeting venue up-date

Dick, I'd be pleased to see some meetings closer to Sacramento. I'd also try to make meetings further south, on occasion. As you pointed out, being able to know we have the place more than a month in advance is probably a big plus. I've been assuming that the membership center was near Jackson.

If we pay a place $30 bucks it is the same as going to RT, depositing $100 and only having 10 people show up with an average meal expense of $7 per person. The hassle for us is that we have to collect reciepts or something to verify our expense to get our refund, if any. I don't mind contributing for a meeting place, but perhaps consider including it in or with dues so the club doesn't have to scramble each meeting for the fee. I wonder what the average attendance has been (I've not been able to be regular but hope to begin changing that). I'm guessing 15 - 20? If it is 15, then $30/meeting is around $2 per person or 24 bucks a year. That's less than the gas I buy to get to Jackson.

I'll appreciate a place that has good parking, nice arrangement to listen to speakers or watch videos/slides, is a regular meeting place, and is conducive to radio discussion. Occaisional (quarterly?) excursion meetings works for me, but a regular place for most meetings is probably best.

I can eat before I get there, potluck, bring or buy lunch. Not so important.

Ching! $0.02

Subject: [Mldxcc] Meeting venue up-date

I just got off the phone with Walt Wiseman at RoundTable Pizza's
corporate office. He is the one responsible for the change in RT's
policies regarding use of 'banquet room' and other RT facilities.

There is no negotiating the $100 deposit for use on Saturday afternoon.

Another factor came up during discussion; reservations can only be made
30 days in advance. This would throw our scheduling off. If someone else
were to make their reservations first, we would have to meet in
restaraunt area if space was available. In parking lot, if not. This
would be a deterrent to scheduling guest speakers and to showing videos.
In my opinion, this is more a 'deal breaker' than the $100 deposit.

From comments I have received, people were evenly split on staying at
RT, paying the difference or seeking another venue. Mel's was one
suggestion. Ron is looking into that.

One suggestion was to potluck at W6SR's QTH for January. There was a
vote for the Ione Hotel.

Dennis says Amador RC pays the Senior Center $30/meeting. We could bring
our own food or potluck it. Would attendees be willing to put a couple
of dollars each meeting in the pot to pay rent?? We would also need a
clean-up crew.

I would like to see a couple of meetings each year closer to
Placerville/Sacto to accomodate our northern members. Any suggestions here??

Ray, could we get you to check out Raley's for a meeting room?? I am
told some stores have a meeting room (the one in Folsom was not real
big, but adequate). Would they allow us to use on a monthly basis??
Albertson's?? Others??

Would we lose our 'southern' members if we were to meet further north??
Comments, please.

73,

Dick Wilson K6LRN
