I'd vote for Mel's as a regular place if they are priced right - same neighborhood, very good food.
I can host a meeting in Calaveras if you all are willing - these options come to mind:
- there is a upscale pizza joint called "Firewood" in Murphys that has good food, though a bit more than you would spend at RT (plan for $10) the food is better quality and there are other options like burgers and burritos. (And they have Guinness...;-) We would meet in an upstairs loft with no AV (we would have to bring it in ourselves). This would only be an option between Nov and May (slow months).
- I could also host at the winery warehouse in Vallecito. I would have to verify space since we would be meeting during tasting hours, but I think we would be OK. This would be BYO - there are several take-out food options within five minutes. Free wine could even happen. No AV currently but because we are now renting space to outside groups, we may make the investment soon. Northern members may find it advantageous to come down 99 to Lodi and then up, rather than slog down 49 - worth checking out, anyway. We also have a guest cottage if anyone would like to make an overnight of it with their spouse.
- there are several pizza joints in San Andreas, which would be about 15 minutes closer. I could check on these if that is desired.
hope this helps - j
