[Mldxcc] Shack remodel

As I rebuild my shack, I'm looking for improvements. What makes an
efficient shack? I'm planning the arrangement of the radios, amp, tuners
and monitor...and accesories. I'm right handed.

I'm thinking the monitor goes in the center on a 10 inch high box stand (to
center eye on the monitor) with the space below for the keyboard and perhaps
a shelf for the SWR meter, C-IV, Sigma-5 Controller, Rigblaster, Winkeyer.

On the left, another 10 inch high box stand with the SB-220 on top and
perhaps the power supply on a shelf above or below the amp. I've had the
power supply on the floor. The computer is on the floor below the amp (I
have not actually plugged in the amp yet <grin>). Antenna coax and ground
runs from the right side across the table top next to the wall to the radios
on the right side. (The 718 (or 706) could go on the table top below the
amp for SO2R).

On the right, the IC-746 on the bottom, Vectronics HFT-1500 tuner above it
and perhaps the IC-718 on top (I've considered putting the tuner on the
bottom). Bencher BY-1 key on the table top.

I plan to angle the right and left stacks to make it easy to read meters and
such. I also plan to make the frames for the stacks open to make it easy to
get to cables and coax.

My computer is spewing RF. I probably need to start over there, but it is
too new to junk and too old to return. It takes out channel 3 and 3830 and
parts of 40m and 20m, and got worse when I replaced my desk and rearranged
the shack. I bought some ferrites at RS and will go through the ARRL
computer RFI checklist (I bought an RFI Book as well).

I've been running a simple system, mostly SSB, N1MM, an 88 foot dipole and a
vertical. The 746 has two antenna inputs and a tuner that seems to handle
the 2 antennas. I'll be setting up PSK-31 and RTTY, and may eventually do
some CW!

Any pearls of wisdom? Thanks!
