[Mldxcc] FW: Northern California Fires

Good morning, I'm forwarding the email below hoping someone in the club can
provide better information than I would. My guess is that it would be very
difficult to reach an individual firefighter. I understand that we do not
provide an equivalent to a commercial service, I'm not aware of a program
that provides "humanitarian" service to firefighters to provide a link back
home during their resting time.
Any comments before I respond?

Rich,
My name is Tom Lawrence and I'm a newly licensed Ham operator. I got your
name from the Mother Lode DX & Contest Club website (which I found at the
ARRL website). My son is a firefighter with the US Forest Service currently
deployed on the North Mountain fire in Stanislaus National Forest. The fire
camp is outside cell phone range. Does your club or do Ham operators in
general provide communication services for fire crews' personal
communications in situations like this? Being new to amateur radio and not
a member of any club, I'm curious if this is something you do. Any guidance
or direction you can provide would be greatly appreciated. In any case,
thank you for taking the time to read this.
