[Mldxcc] DXCC card checking at Visalia

Just to clarify what Garry has said. As a "Field Checker" I can not
check 160 meter cards or cards for deleted countries unless there is a
ARRL HQ authorized representative present. At Visalia we will have Dave,
NN1N fron HQ overseeing the card checking so ALL cards can be checked.
The cards will be returned to the applicant after checking, only the
application paperwork will be forwarded to Newington. The only exception
would be a questionable card that Dave wanted Bill Moore to see. In
fifteen years of checking at Visalia I've never seen such a card.
It is important to understand that not all "ARRL-sanctioned
events" have a HQ representative that is authorized to check DXCC cards.
Major events that attract lots of DXers, and contesters, such as Visalia
and Dayton typically do. More general interest events such as Pacificon
typically do not.
If you come to the card checking towards the end of the scheduled time,
chances are there will not be a line.
For those people involved with the program and have a conflict during the
card check time, see me before hand and we'll make special arrangements.
My understand is there will be a CQ representative at Visalia that can
check CQ awards such as WAZ. And there probably will be someone that can
check WAS or VUCC.

What Kevin says is true enough, but there is a caveat if you are a
lowband operator. 160m cards have to go to Newington. If you field
check, that is a separate submission; if you check at an ARRL-sanctioned
event, e.g. Visalia, they still have to go to Newington, but as part of
the same submission.
I think what I just wrote is correct, but I invite corrections if wrong.
