Hi Guys,
  For CQ contests there is great latitude as Clubs are not categorized by size. The Mother Lode DX/Contest Club is listed as region W6 which is the entire state.  The center and mileage constriction is applicable only to ARRL contests which by definition require us to be classified as a Medium Club. I am unaware of the ARRL criteria for Club competition being applicable to the CQP.

Hi Dick, we should be asking Shirley I suppose, as Contest VP.  The key to the center is whether we include Bay Area ops or Nevada ops, and Paradise.  I may be missing key players, let me know.

I thought the center was Pine Grove, but based on the map I produced and put in the Nugget in May, I'd guess the center should be closer to Sheldon, Wilton and Sloughhouse, or Cameron Park and US 50.  The problem is that we have members in the Bay area and near Reno/Sparks.  These are beyond the 175 miles straight line between them (about 186 miles).  We have to make a decision whether to keep the bay area ops or the Nevada ops.

North-south is Paradise to Twain Heart, and the long one is Paradise.  Linking Paradise and Sunnyvale/Redwood City puts the center near Grant Line Road and Eagles Nest Road, but we need an accurate map to verify the distances since it will be tight.  Both of the suggested centers will easily include Twain Heart.

To include K5RC means the center needs to be up around Cameron Park and US 50.  We have to make a choice.  One consideration might be where the biggest scores come from (do we get many logs from Nevada, and who else am I missing?).  Another might be to include the Nevada side as Mother Lode, and let REDXA take over the Bay Area ops.  I don't like either choice.  Better Ideas?

I don't see any club size factor in the CQP.  They refer to "the" club competition, and the REDXA plaque does not distinguish club size.  However, I suspect we are both medium clubs with more than 10 logs or more than a 35 mile radius, and less than 51 logs.  I suspect both span two or more sections and so have to go with the 175 mile radius.

We do need to send in a club roster within 30 days of the contest, and should put it up on the web page after it is sent to NCCC.  We also need to verify that we don't have non-club single ops and that multi op operations have 50% or more club members.
