[Mldxcc] CW

I absolutely agree with Rick.  I'm a born and raised CW guy but I can't send better than about 5 words per minute with a key...any kind of key.  I do keying with a Winkeyer talking to my logging programs and I have an old MFJ CW keyboard for use when it gets beyond "599-CA", "CQ CQP W1RH", etc.

As far as receiving CW is concerned, I've been thinking about doing a talk or having someone do a talk about this.  I receive it in my head, but more power to the guys who are making it work with readers.  It means more CW contesters for me to work and more points for MLDXCC.

The talk I'd like to give or see someone give would be oriented to the phone-only operators who want to get into CW.

We have several new contesters in the club who don't do CW but helped us win CQP.  Why not get these guys to discover CW and what better way than to use the reader in some of the contest programs along with a Winkeyer?

Ladies & Gentlemen:

I have a question and would like input from many folks.  Please tell me
what you think, not what you think that I want to hear.

I have never turned my machine loose on cw because of all of the
"dumbing down the hobby" and the territorial cw ops.  I just felt that
it was invading territory where I hadn't earned the rights.  I have been
picking up entities with the club log spots and have pretty much thinned
out the phone and digital spots.  I see all of the cw spots but am
afraid to go there.  I am sure that the true cw folks can spot machine
cw in an instant.

Help me with my decision.
