Although CW is my preferred mode, I think my favorite contest is NAQP SSB, and that's today.

11AM-11PM - Pacific Time

If you're operating full time, you are limited to 10 hours of operation.

Why do I like this one?

1 - It's low power only (100 watts), which means my amp isn't heating the garage to 100+ degrees.

2 - The exchange is simply Name/QTH (CA)

NCCC, being a club that seems to prefer CW, has lost the three-club challenge because of poor participation in NAQP SSB.

The 3-Club Challenge puts NCCC up against SMC and PVRC.  To win the competition, the club with the highest number of points scored times the number of participants in that club, will win the competition for that contest.  The trophy goes to the club that has the highest number of points for all of the NAQP's (RTTY/SSB/CW) for the year.

NCCC will typically win RTTY and CW and then fall flat on it's face for SSB because of low participation.

So......

Since we seem to be a club full of SSB types, and if you're a NCCC member, get on the air.  If you make one QSO, and send that one-QSO log in, NCCC will get credit for your participation, which becomes a multiplier.  Remember, it's the total score times the number of participants.
