Congrats!! You make it look easy.
I think you'll find it works quite well off the ends. In fact, especially
for 40 meters, you'll have almost zero directional variation. That's
actually an advantage over a horizontal dipole that has a deep null off the
ends... unless you can rotate it. For higher bands like 15 and 17 (and
even 20), you may get a few dB better broadside and less off the ends but
it still isn't a deep null.
Question: What is your final wire length for 20 after trimming?
