Whatever you do, don't leave significant slack in the cable or the
sections might suddenly drop catastrophically.
Lean an extension ladder against the tower and climb up the ladder
and tie 3 ropes around the 3 legs. Climb down, remove ladder,
and then yank on the ropes to wiggle the tower and free up the
sections.
If it is currently windy, wait for the wind to die down.
"Normal" squeaking of metal perhaps isn't. You've probably
got something bent that only now is bad enough to cause
a problem. I had a problem with a cable rubbing on a brace
and it gradually worked like a file and made a notch. The
cable would then hang up on the notch. It tooks years to
go from just noisy to an actual problem.
Good luck.
