One time my crank-up wouldn't move and it turned out to be a stretched belt
between the motor and the gearbox. The belt was slipping, so the gears
weren't moving. The spacing can be adjusted with some screws on a bracket -
I don't remember it well enough to describe it but it was pretty obvious
once I realized what was happening. By increasing the spacing between the
two wheels just a tad, I got the belt tight again and all was well. This
may not be your problem, of course.
