Subject: [NCCC] JARTS RTTY this weekend
This contest counts towards the intra-club competition, with a multiplier of 5.
The JARTS RTTY contest runs 0000UTC Saturday, Oct. 15 thru 2359UTC Sunday, Oct.16 (5pm Friday to 4:59pm Sunday).
It's an everyone-works-everyone quasi DX contest, with a few wrinkles.
Single ops can work the whole 48 hours if they want, and everyone is assisted.
Exchange is 599 and then your age. YLs can send 00 if so inclined.
3 points per Q on a different continent, 2 same continent.
Mults are per band and are DX entities, except for W, JA, VE, VK. Mults are also W, JA, VE, VK call areas (so 40 possible per band.)
Work as many JAs as you can on each band, they count 3 points and you need all the call areas. Consider this a west coast advantage. ;)
Not to mention getting all of the call areas for VE and W, and that these NA contacts still count 2/3 of a JA.
So in order to fully exploit your west coast JA advantage, be sure to review the JA band plan. There are a few wrinkles:
On 80: JAs can work anyone 3525-3535, but can only work DX 3535-3575 (no JA to JA). So you need to at least be below 3575 to work any JAs. And because they also need to work other JAs for call areas, you need to spend time in the 3525-3535 segment. You may find other DX and locals here doing the same thing.
On 40: Same situation. They can work anyone including JAs 7030-7045, but only DX 7045-7100. Be mindful of any ongoing CW Qs, especially in that lower segment.
On 20: JA to JA is okay 14080-14112, and only DX above 14112.
On 15: JA to JA 21080-21125, DX 21125-21150.
On 10: They can go up to 28150 so no worries. Don't discount 10 meters, sporadic E is always possible, and stuff happens. Keep an eye on the cluster. Try some CQs while you are eating that sandwich. ;)
