The sidetone does not come from the sound card, but instead from the same
motherboard hardware that generates the beeps from the computer.  If you
type the word "SOUND" with the keyer enabled, you should have sound.  If
not, you have a hardware problem.  Does the computer beep at all (but NOT
out of the sound card)?  Is the internal speaker plugged in to the
motherboard?
