[NCC] Val, W8KIC

To the NCC Warriors:

I got the chance to visit Val this afternoon.  He is home, resting after his
surgery and the complications that followed.  He is in great spirits, and
the trademark Edwards quick wit and sardonic sense of humor were frequently
in evidence.  (He wanted me to make sure I conveyed my sympathies to WT8C
for once again 'losing" the CQ DX Marathon......Reno came in at #2 once
again.)

He has not yet been on the air, but doing so is on his to-do list.  He only
recently has recaptured his appetite and as he resumes eating, his strength
is returning.  He has no prognosis from the docs, and does not yet know what
the course of treatment will be, but expects to learn more this week.

Val has been swamped with family and friend visitors, and asked me to convey
apologies to all the well-wishers who have e-mailed and called and to whom
he has not been able to respond.  As you can imagine, as a very popular
professor (and mentor of many) at Case, his e-mail box has been overflowing.

That notwithstanding, you can drop him a note at robert.edwards at case.edu if
you are so inclined.  However, please to not expect a response, since Val is
overwhelmed with e-mails.
