NCC Warriors,
I recently received the following from K1DG. This seems like a worthy
project, but probably beyond the normal NCC budget. That said, any thoughts
about making a donation -- or pooling individual donations in NCC's name are
welcome.

You are receiving this email because according to one source or
another, you are listed as President of a Contest Club in the U.S. or
Canada. If my information is out of date, please forward this message
to the current president of your club.
As you know, the 2014 World Radiosport Team Championship will be held
in New England – the first time this world-class operating event has
taken place on North American soil since 1996. A group of 59
two-operator teams comprised of the best operators in the world will
compete in what has been called "the olympics of ham radio." The
selection process is underway, with about 1/3 of the on-air qualifying
contest events already complete.
We will be assembling 65 identical stations for this competition (59
competing, plus 6 backups for contingencies such as last-minute line
noise or site inaccessibility). Our plan is to implement "Field
Day-style" stations, similar to what the Russians arranged for
WRTC2010 last summer.
As you can imagine, this means we need to procure 65 towers, 65 beams,
65 rotators, 65
tents, 65 generators, and almost 6 miles of coax, just to name a few
of the logistic and financial challenges.
WRTC2014, Inc. is a newly-created non-profit corporation. We are not
part of any existing organization, and started with an empty bank
account. We have recently begun our critical fundraising activities,
having already received a generous donation from the Northern
California DX Foundation.
One element of our fundraising is making Station Sponsorships
available to clubs that are interested in supporting the event. A
donation of $1000 will place your club's logo prominently at one of
the WRTC stations, as well as the WRTC2014 Web site and in the
documentary video to be produced, recognizing your club's leadership
in contesting and generous support of WRTC2014.
The Yankee Clipper Contest Club recently voted to sponsor TWO
stations. We are hoping that larger contest clubs will also be able to
sponsor more than one station.
Please bring this matter up at your next club meeting, and let us know
whether or not you will be able to help us. Club donation checks
should be made payable to "WRTC2014" and can be sent via mail to:
WRTC2014, Inc.
P.O. Box 444
Hanover, NH 03755
Of course, in addition to your club’s support, individual members may
be interested in making a contribution as well. The NCDXF, an
IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organization, has agreed to serve as our
fundraising partner, and donations made via NCDXF are generally
tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers. Full details of how to donate are
on our Web site at www.WRTC2014.org <http://www.wrtc2014.org/>
This is an exciting time for ham radio contesting. I hope your club
can be a part of WRTC2014’s success! Feel free to contact me with any
questions.

Doug K1DG
