Sad to hear the news of Carl's passing..in addition to the many, many  
P49V/AI6V QSO's and occasional meetings at Dayton, I will always remember  
pulling up to the hotel in Sled, Slovenia for WRTC 2000 and seeing a Corvette  
with the license plate "AI6V" parked in front. Word got around that Carl had 
his  Vette shipped over so that he could cut loose on the German Autobahn.
.one has to  admire his style.

AI6V (ex  WA6JUD), Carl D. Cook, aka P40V/P49V, passed away in his
sleep  yesterday.  He was just two days away from 75.  Carl had  been
fighting cancer for some time.  He was both a Contester and DXer  and
was a member of the CQ Contest Hall of Fame and had  331/340
(current/total) confirmed in the ARRL DXCC Mixed standings.   K3LP,
Dave, visited his friend and mentor Carl, last month and has  posted
some photos of AI6V throughout the years  at:
